Thomas A. Lazarchik Sr., 75, of Latrobe, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, in Loyalhanna Care Center, with his family at his side.
He was born Jan. 17, 1937, in Latrobe, the son of the late Michael and Frances (Parizek) Lazarchik.
Thomas was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Latrobe, where he was an usher for many years. He was the owner of Strickler's Drug Store, Latrobe, for 35 years until his retirement in 2000. He was a graduate of Latrobe High School and the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy. After graduating from college, he was in the National Guard. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 940, American Legion Post 515, the NRA and Glengary Golf Links.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle Alexander Lazarchik; and a sister, Lois Lazarchik.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Toni (DeDiana) Lazarchik, of Latrobe; three sons, Thomas A. Lazarchik Jr., of Irwin, Michael Lazarchik and his wife, Rene, of Richardson, Texas, and Andrew Lazarchik and his wife, Stephanie, of Latrobe; his seven grandchildren, Nicholas and Alexandria Lazarchik, of Harrison City, Alyssa, Ryan and Maleah Lazarchik, of Richardson, Texas, and Jeremy and Sophia Lazarchik, of Latrobe; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Family and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe.
Members of the St. John Rosary Altar Christian Mothers will recite the Rosary at 2:30 PM Tuesday in the funeral home.
Members of Knights of Columbus Council 940 will hold services at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
Military services will be conducted at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home by American Legion Post 515 and VFW Post 3414.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. John the Evangelist Church, Latrobe, with the Rev. Anthony Carbone as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Latrobe.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. John the Evangelist Church, 306 St. John Drive, Latrobe, PA 15650.
